I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your hard work and organisation of this momentous trip, made more significant by the presence of Rabbi Lister and his congregation. It is important for people of all faiths to witness the sheer enormity of the camps and although I have studied the holocaust in written form, it is a poor relation to standing in the camps and actually taking in the enormity of what happened. Again it is unpleasant to read about the senseless murder of children for no other reason than their belonging to a particular group, but as a father standing looking at the shorn pony tail or clothes from a small girl is utterly heart breaking. I thank you for you passion in spreading the message and will be recommending you future trips to friends and families, I hope to return with my wife in 2014. As we discussed at the railway tracks, every man, woman and child should witness this, regardless of faith, gender. I deeply thank you. richard wenham
On behalf of my daughter Natasja and myself, we want to express our thanks to both of you for the perfect organisation of our trip to Oswiecim (Auschwitz) last Tuesday. It was an experience we never had in our lives. What a tragedy, what a suffering for so many. What a suffering for the JEWS!For us it was a privilege to visit Auschwitz together with so many JEWISH people in our group. Not to make it more real to see and to contemplate the suffering of your People, but to give a spiritual "honor" to all those People who lived and died in those circumstances.Doing this together with you all, we hope that we, although it's very, very little, contribute to the feeling that we as humans are not all evil.Rabbi, you give us a warm and welcome feeling, although we are not JEWISH and have no religion. This was one of the best organised trips I have ever been on. From the early start to the late finish, every step of the way was accompanied by Chuni and a colleague. Food was given throughout the day and no-one went short at any time. There was no need for any money as everything was supplied.Even the cost of the loos was included. Auschwitz itself produced it's share of interest and emotion. For me, the most moving part of the day was the shofar being blown at the end of our visit to Auschwitz 2. It was a long and heavy day but well worth the cost and I would strongly recommend as many people as possible to experience the complete day. Thanks to Chuni and his team for organising the day. An unbelievable trip in so many ways. Nothing read or seen before about the holocaust can prepare you for the misery of seeing the two camps in person.The guide was extremely knowledgeable and made this so much more of a learning experience than I was expecting.The organisation involved in this trip is second to none, I would recommend this to anyone who has not been to Aushwitz before. i sit here in the airport waiting to return from the trip these last 36hrs. Chuni is very passionate about this trip and this piece of important history to not only the Jewish community, but ALL communities. The trip is extremely well organised, efficient and above all thought provoking and very humbling. I found it very moving, and was so glad that after all this time of talking about lt, l was able to come and see for myself. It still is so hard to understand, why anyone would want to do that to people, no matter who they are, and not even have a single thought that this cant be right. You looked after us so well, with your humour and food, l iked talking to the Rabbi from Golders green, and l cant remember his name, please would you tell me. What can I say about our visit yesterday to Poland, it will be a day that will stay with me forever probably one of the most profound days of my life - and as you said it will take sometime for everything that we saw and heard to sink in but nonetheless I am so pleased that I went. We are writing this comment on the same day we are attending a friend's 80th. Birthday Party.Without Britain's brave defence and a strip of water, what we saw at Auschwitz Birkenau, would have been our fate too, as these monstrous events took place during our friend's and many of our life times and there would have been any birthdays to celebrate! The trip was brilliantly organised and was a profound and deeply moving experience, which will remain in our memory and meant that if all we could was visit these terrible places, we were at least able to bear witness and tell others, to encourage them to make this journey to see Jewry's terrible fate at the hands of barbarians We can only hope that the rise of anti-semitism in Europe will be opposed by right minded people 'though the signs of this are not too evident as anti Israel bias is merging with something more insidious! Chuni Thankyou for a truly memorable trip.Visiting the sites with qualified guides brings the camps to life.Seeing the cattle truck size and hearing the stories of the days that people spent in them.It really made me realise that the occupants would blindly walk into the showers.Our guide gave names and stories to the famous Holocaust photos that we all know so well.The trip will stay with me all my life and I will book to take more Cadets next year.This trip is very upsetting,and it came back to haunt me 2am last night. I have just returned from Kahan Travel's Krakow/Auschwitz tour. It was brilliantly organised and amazing that so much was packed into just one (albeit lengthy) day. I did not need to spend any money everything was provided. The coach was very modern and our guide of the camps was truly excellent. So much food was provided that I couldn't finish it! The day was exhausting and you need to be reasonably fit since there is a lot of walking. But if you are contemplating a trip of this nature and it is truly unforgettable then I can, without hesitation or reservation, recommend this one. Kenneth Lancer

When we received the itinerary for our trip, I noticed we were going to Oscar Schindler's Museum for 2 hours, and I thought, how long does it take to look in his office and the factory. But how wrong I was. As it was, 2 hours was not enough time to go round the exhibition, seeing life as it was. Chuni you thought of everything. Knowing we wouldn't get any kosher food on the flight, you supplied us with a smoked salmon bagel and once through security, bottled water. The food you supplied for breakfast the first morning was superb, the kosher lunch at Auschwitz, in fact all the meals were excellent, as were the two hotels we stayed at. The guides you arranged to take us around the camps, the synagogues, the old Jewish quarter, the ghetto, etc. certainly knew their stuff. I have no words to describe my experiences yesterday. I got further insight into my family's suffering and maybe their feelings as they got off the train in Auschwitz-Birkenow together with the other Hungarian Jews waiting for Mengele's decision whether it is right or left. Luckily for me my mother who was only 17 at the time was sent to the right side or I wouldn't have been born. Our guide was wonderful and I would very much like to write to her and thank her. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name . She was the girl with the red hair. Could I please have her name and email address if possible. It truly was an indelible experience and I am so pleased that I didn't talk about it anymore, but made the journey. Thank you for the opportunity and making this happen. You were so kind and helpful from the moment you met us at the airport on Monday afternoon all the way through the day and it was very much appreciated. You certainly fed both the body and the soul! Despite being both physically and mentally tired by the time I got home, I couldn't get to sleep last night. I thought I would be out like a light, but instead was tossing and turning for hours; memories of the day going through my head.I have always said to family and friends that every Jew owes it to those who died in the concentration camps, to go and visit. When I visited Auschwitz Birkenau in March 2016 I stood peering into the water of a lake into which the ashes of people murdered and cremated there had been dumped. It reminded me of the comment of a police investigator following the genocide in the former Yugoslavia. Standing in a muddy hole he said to his colleague, we are standing in human soup. I studied that conflict and the genocide in Rwanda as part of my MA course at Kings College London. The sad fact is that the nations of the world have done little to prevent genocide since WW2 and we must all do more because inevitably if we do nothing history will repeat itself. Robyn Murdo-Smith
I would like to thankyou and everyone who helped arrange this journey. From a young child I have been obsessed with learning anything I could about my fellow Jews who perished in such dire circumstances and those who lived to tell the tale. I've always wanted to see first hand what the camps and gas chambers were like but only when I got there, reality kicked in. It never feels the right time to make this awesome journey but as my family were on this trip, I felt someone from above was telling me It's time to go. We can all make excuses not to have this experience, but I feel it is up to every person to go whatever your faith and pay respect to those that passed. From the moment that Chuni Kahan greeted us at the airport for our Tour of both Auschwitz Camps and the Schindler Factory Museum, everything was superb, including the accommodation, the guides, the information which Chuni had printed out, the Kosher food - everything was taken care of and I do not know how this was all done under the fee paid. I cannot say that I found the visit to the concentration camps to be enjoyable; nevertheless the guides were excellent and I found the day highly informative and the experience valuable. Reading about the atrocities is one thing, viewing a mountain of hair shaven from thousands of murdered people. It really brought home the horror of it all. It was nice that we had the opportunity to pay our respects at the memorial in Birkenau and light candles in memory of all the men, woman and children murdered there. Visiting concentration camps reminds us all of the vital importance of tolerance and respect towards others, as well as the real danger presented by extremism. The work you are doing is highly commendable and I wish you every success in continuing this good work in the future. Alex Kay

Dear Mr ChuniThank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity to see AUSCHWITZ in real. I have read so many books, but nothing preapared me for what I would see on your tour. I cannot believe how huge the area is, and this was only one concentration camp. What shocked me was the shed with the latrines. Our guide told us that it was a privelige to work there as the ss officers did not come there due to the stench.I was also saddened to see the punishment rooms which were absolutely tiny, where people were forced to stay for some time. The weather was cold and the ground was swampy, but I was wrapped in a warm coat, gloves and boots. I cannot begin to imagine how the jews felt in their thin prison uniforms standing hours outside in freezing temperatures in one place, without moving.This trip has changed me and I hope it will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Chuni for an excellent tour, a packed day, the seamless logistics and your passion in raising the awareness. I though I knew about Auschwitz from the TV, books and GCSE history, but nothing prepared me for the vast scale and industrialization of what was a death factory of a monumental scale. One cannot truly appreciate what happened here properly without actually visiting, without seeing the shaved hair of 40,00 victims piled high, seeing the flimsy huts and freezing conditions, the cattle carts used to transport the victims, the end of the railway line that led to nowhere and the actual chambers and furnaces. To see how so many Jews were murdered here within 40 minutes of stepping off the wagons and to listen to the stories of the precious few survivors is something we should all try and experience. Ten years ago we visited the Holocaust exhibition and. 5 years ago we stood at Berlins station of deportation. We decided to visit the other end of the track. Some months ago I said to my partner, now is the time to go. Helen had been recommended a tour operator some years earlier and found an archived email recommending Kahan Travel. We prepared with another visit to the Holocaust exhibition, We also understood that, whatever it was to be, there would be life before Auschwitz and life after. A social gathering was arranged at the hotel the evening before we visited the camps, and Chuni explained what we would see. He also told one story, and that story will stay with me for the rest of my life. When we finally got to the end of that railway line Chuni was there waiting for us. Prayers were said for those for whom there was no life after Auschwitz. For us, Chuni was there with us, there for us, at the end of our life before Auschwitz and at the beginning of our life after Auschwitz Paul Steele

Thank you, Chuni. Thank you. I have over several years learned about the holocaust. I have visited museums, read books, watched documentaries; I have read and researched widely and recently visited Anne Frank's house, reading widely around that and the Dutch Resistance movement. None of this compares to visiting e site of Auschwitz. By going round with a guide, standing where the victims and perpetrators stood, walking where they walked I got an experience - a very deep experience that I did not expect. Going back, the events of the late 20s and early 30s bore clear warning signs. There was a build up; people watched as members of their communites were removed from their homes, had their businesses and property taken from them, were forced to live where they were told, made to wear badges... these things in themselves are all terrible... but it seemed the world did not see. Dear Chuni I just wanted to share my feelings while they are still fresh. I spoke to you a number of times about the trip but didn't go for it until yesterday. I must say that you were professional from A- Z and provided everything to a high standard. This trip will stay ingrained in my mind forever. It was just the right amount of time and you packed in a vast amount for one day. The tour was extremely sad for myself as my great grandparents were murdered in Auschwitz by the Nazis and my grandmother worked in the camps and saw the butcher mengele. I had heard loads of stories and read loads of stories but seeing this was another thing completely. It is very hard to express my feelings in writing but can say that it was a trip I will never ever forget especially seeing the brutality that the Nazis used which is shocking to the core. Thank you Chuni for an extremely well organised tour. You looked after everyones needs and requirements throughout the tour. The two guides supplied for Auschwicz 1 & 2 respectively were very informative, friendly and responsive to any questions asked of them. Chuni, you also gave invaluable input throughout. Your appropriate use of humour with the group helped to display what a kind, genuine and committed soul you are, and made what could be difficult situations more easily and acceptably explained. The flight was only just over 2 hours. The Motel was ideally situated 10 minutes from Krakow Airport, and about 30 minutes from Auschwicz. This is a truly life enhancing, and possibly life changing experience. Words cannot fully explain the effect of this tour can have on our human psyche. To actually walk in the footsteps taken by so many thousands of souls to their end is moving beyond words. Thank you for helping me to fulfill my dream of paying my respects to the people who lost their lives during the darkest hours of European history. The VISIT to both Auschwitz camps was somewhat humbling. The guide showed her vast knowledge and pointed out the different locations where misery and pain were handed out. The ruins of the crematoria bring home again the enormity and scale of such barbarism but still it is uncomprehensible the vast numbers of people murdered. I will remember until my dying day. I would like to thank our hosts Chuni Kahan and his wife for the opportunity of experiencing a tour that I believe people should take and let them see first hand just what other people are still in denial about. The Auschwitz Birkenau Tour was one of the most valued experiences of my life yet. Chuni and our guide helped bring to life the artifacts and stories of survivors with their wealth of knowledge. The visit to Auschwitz I gave us an honest pretrial of what happened during the holocaust but nothing prepared us for the emotions we went through at Birkenau. We spent a couple hours waking the same steps that millions of men, women and children walked but the difference was we knew where we were going and what would happened to the people who walked in front of us. Even though what we saw was horrible it made me and the students realise how grateful we are for what we have in life today and how lucky we are to grow up in a diverse and democratic society. It is very difficult to put into words exactly what I'd like to convey but I'll attempt as best I can. I'd like to say that the trip was organised perfectly, from initial booking through to getting on the plane home - It went well partly because we were such a mixed group, but mainly I feel due to Kahan Travel being a small operation and being on a personal level. Our chat at Krakow airport really showed your passion for what you are trying to achieve and for that I thank you. I was, on two occasions in tears, once just after we davened Kaddish when the memorial prayer was recited. As the son of a Belsen survivor it was interesting to see the contrast between to the camps, Its reassuring to discover that there are many memorials throughout Poland dedicated to the memory of those that perished through no fault of their own. There were cabinets of shoes and spectacles, even suitcases, with the names of their owners on, with whom they would never be reunited. They stepped off of the cramped cattle train and into a world of chaos and panic. They were separated from their loved ones and went through a 'selection' process by SS Officers who chose whether they lived or died. The most powerful part of the visit for me was walking down the steps into the gas chamber. The millions that lost their lives, the men, women and children that had walked down those very steps, thinking that they were merely there to be showered and disinfected. Crammed into one dark space, the lights went out on their world forever. For me, this was a personal journey and one that I will never ever forget. Clare Ivory
What a difference a day makesJourney to Auschwitz, 5 November 2015Firstly, a huge thank you to Chuni and all the Kahan Travel team. Every single aspect of the journey to Auschwitz was intelligent, sensitive and exemplary, and ran to a clockwork timetable. Such organised calm, expertise and insight were essential ingredients on a day of emotional chaos.Secondly, for me, the experience was a journey of two parts lost and found.After a few days of reflection, I continue to feel an indescribable sadness and profound sorrow at the loss of six million Jews in such a torture chamber of horrors, suffering, depravity, terror and sadism. Unbelievably, though, I also feel an indescribable joy at having literally shared a footstep and a footprint on the railway platform at Auschwitz with Erich, one of my fathers six brothers. I have discovered, to my joy, that Erich is no longer my fathers brother. I have found my long lost Uncle Erich. Helen Martins

I cannot even express how I feel in words. I'm speechless. NOTHING can prepare you for what life was like when they tell you on the tour. From the beginning when you are greeted at the airport, the preparation, the tour guides, right until the end of your journey deserves the biggest credit the company deserves. The commitment that goes in to planning and making sure everything goes how it does deserves recognition. I was left speechless, shocked, at times I didn't move when hearing how these poor poor souls suffered. I can't express my words whatsoever. Auschwitz. Wow. I have never, and I doubt, that I will ever give any tour operater the credit they deserve. Our guides did everything from their hearts. It showed. I have been for many years wanting to visit Poland, Auschwitz and this dream of mine was finally full filled on the 22/10/14. Visit to Auschwitz was an experience that one can't explain, you have to live it to understand it. I only wish that we had more time to spend going around the camp site but despite that I am hoping to re-visit Auschwitz in the near future. Those who are thinking of going to Auschwitz I would recommend to use Kahan travel, I am happy to say that. I was very impressed with the whole package. This was one of the best organised trips I have ever been on. From the early start to the late finish, every step of the way was accompanied by Chuni and a colleague. Food was given throughout the day and no-one went short at any time. There was no need for any money as everything needed was supplied. Even the cost of the loos was included. Auschwitz itself produced its share of interest and emotion. For me, the most moving part of the day was the Shofar being blown at the end of our visit to Auschwitz 2. It was a long and heavy day but well worth the cost and I would strongly recommend as many people as possible to experience the complete day. Thanks to Chuni and his team for organising the day.
